Kent Wedding Photographer - MJ Photography
I am a documentary wedding photographer based in Kent. My work, however, often takes me to Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge, Sevenoaks and all around the South East. I am also willing to travel to weddings all over the UK as well as destination weddings overseas.
My philosophy is all about capturing the events in a relaxed and unobtrusive manner as your day develops and unfolds. Adopting a reportage approach and using natural light whenever possible enables me to capture beautiful, candid and intimate photographs that will remain with you forever.
If you would like to read more about me and my approach as a documentary wedding photographer please visit the About page.
My work is also all about the little people in our lives providing bespoke and stunning photography of kids of all sizes ranging from newborn through baby and toddler to older kids and families. I find children and family photography especially rewarding and aim to capture different characters and personalities of your little bundles of joy.

Photography runs in the family. The first camera I ever held was an ancient Zenith E which belonged to my dad. I still have vivid memories of him working in the darkroom and making the magic happen. This is when my fascination for photography began however when I became a father myself, the fascination became a passion taking over my life for good. Since then I have continuously developed my skills and style and decided to take a leap into the world of a wedding and portrait photographer.
Kent Documentary Wedding Photographer
From the very first wedding I did I knew that the style of photographs I want to take were documentary, reportage, photojournalistic or whatever you want to call it. It simply meant that I was always intrigued by how weddings as social gatherings differed from each other and how the individuals celebrated this special day in their own way making each wedding reportage unique and bespoke. Whether your wedding day is traditional or modern, religious or humanist you will all have a unique, personal way of celebrating and experiencing it and this is the story I wish to tell.
To achieve this I will keep to the background carefully documenting all that is happening around me making sure all smiles, laughter, tears of joy and those little unexpected moments are recorded. In addition to this, I believe that as a photographer I should have minimum but positive impact on your day. Therefore I will not make you do any awkward and uncomfortable posing and we can even limit the number of formal family photographs to an absolute minimum. That does not mean that I do not do any formal photos or portraits whatsoever. On the contrary! During our consultation we will discuss the number of formal and portrait photos you are comfortable with and even have a pre-wedding engagement shoot to get you accustomed to the idea of being photographed and make the whole experience more enjoyable.
Please visit the wedding and family galleries for examples of my work together with my blog which is always updated with new images. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you are planning your wedding or if you would like to arrange a family portrait session.
I look forward to hearing from you!
By the way, just in case you’re wondering, it’s pronounced matshey yanovich, bit of a tongue twister but give me a call nonetheless!
